It was an interesting decade for print advertising, but I can't say it was the best. The apex of stylish design was the 30s. The explosion of unlimited consumerism was the 50s. The 60s had the new creativity. The 70s . . . yeah, okay.

What did the 80s have?

More sex, probably.

More stylishness and elegance. Also sex! Much of one's appreciation for the ads of an era depends on your age, of course; if you were in your 20s in the 80s, the hairstyles and clothes, or lack of, were on your wavelength - or what you thought your wavelength should be.

You'll find a reasonable collection here - ten or more per year. Due to the constraint on my sources, it's mostly clothing, cigarettes, and liquor.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.
